During the Annual Convention held on Saturday 18 April 2015 at Bolholt Hotel, Bury, a certificate commemorating 40 years of continuous membership of the National Association of Brass Band Conductors, was presented to Edward (Ted) Griffiths by Sydney Swancott a vice president of the association.
Ted, as he is affectionately known, joined the NABBC in 1975. His early musical lessons were on the Bb cornet but he soon moved on to the soprano cornet and joined the Meltham and Meltham Mills Band. After 12 years with the band he left to conduct the Yorkshire Bus Company Band where during his 18 year tenure he achieved much success. He then moved to Dobcross to conduct the youth band where during his 16 year tenure brought the band into prominence and enjoyed many successes.
Ted has served the association for some years as vice chairman of the national body and also for different periods as vice chairman, chairman and president of the association's Northern Area.
