Death of Bruce Fraser (Updated)

Bruce Fraser

I am sorrry to have to inform all members of the National Association of Brass Band Conductors the announcement (17th February) of the sudden death of Bruce Fraser DRSAM, at the age of 69.

Bruce has been an active supporter of the Association for many years. He was a leading educationalist, composer, adjudicator and conductor.

He was for many years Head of Music at Buckhaven High School.

He started his conducting career in the 1980s with Buckhaven & Methill Band. His conducting saw him work with a number of Scottish bands including Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly and in more recent times City of Discovery and Dysart Colliery.

He led City of Discovery to the Scottish Championship title in 2006.

Few bands around the brass banding world will not have any of his compositions in their music libraries.

Bruce leaves his wife Pat and daughter Lynne - on behalf of all our members I send deepest condolences to his family.

The funeral service will take place on Wednesday 1 March (12.45pm) in Kettle Church (Memorial Hall), 1 Main Street, Kingskettle, Cupar KY15 7PN.
